BACK TO SCHOOL: Calendars for the upcoming year start later this month for BCS, open in August for HCSD

Schools are getting ready to bring students back to campuses across Haralson County, but those calendars are very different depending on which schools you’re attending locally. Whether it’s the four-day week for HCSD or breaks throughout the year at BCS, the two school districts still have plenty of days of learning throughout the year ahead.

Here’s a rundown of the calendars heading into the 2026-27 academic calendar for Bremen City Schools and the Haralson County School District (as published on their websites.)

BCS

Bremen City Schools’ first day back to class is July 31st, with open houses planned for each school from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28.

Though school is starting back on a Friday this year, students will have their first full week back on Aug. 3 through 7, and stay in school until the first holiday on Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.

BCS youth will have a Digital Learning Day for parent-teacher conferences on September 16, and then have fall break on October 5 through Oct. 9. Thanksgiving Break is November 23 through Nov. 27, and the holiday break will fall this year December 21 through January 1, 2027.

School starts back on January 5 as a mid-year planning day will take up time on Monday, January 4. A holiday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 18 will be followed by a February 10 Parent-Teacher Conference Day with Digital Learning for students.

A Winter Break is scheduled for Feb. 15 through Feb. 19, a break on April 5 through 9 for Spring Break and the school year will cap off on May 21, 2027. Bremen High School seniors will celebrate graduation that evening at 8 p.m.

HCSD

With a four-day school week for students in the offing during the 2026-27 calendar year, HCSD doesn’t have as many breaks as their counterparts at Bremen City Schools.

Haralson County students are starting off the year just a few days behind those at BCS. The first day of school this year is Tuesday, August 4, with classes continuing through September14 for a Teacher Work Day for teachers. There’s no fall break currently on the calendar, but Haralson Schools will be closed on Friday, October 23. Thanksgiving Break falls from November 24 through November 27, followed by the holiday break on December 22 through Dec. 31.

Students come back to class on January 5, have Spring Break on April 6 through April 9, and fishing off the school year on May 21.
