He was a Blue Devil for much of his life, and will remain cherished in the hearts and minds of those he supported during his career in education, but he’ll have to live on in memory now following his passing over the weekend. Kenneth Eugene Shead

Kenneth Eugene Shead, age 87 of Temple, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Born in Douglas County, Georgia, on June 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Dixon Phillip Shead and the late Faye Broom Shead. In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Pansy Gail Carroll Shead, his son, Brad Shead,  and several brothers and sisters.

A proud American patriot, Kenneth served honorably in the United States Navy.  His dedication was also seen in his 35 year career with Lockheed Martin working in the electrical department.  Kenneth enjoyed being outside in nature, walking in the woods and by the creek.  His family was his pride and joy and they loved hearing his stories of days gone by.  

His survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Scott Wages of Dallas; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian & Tara Shead of Temple; and his precious grandchildren: Holli Lawrence, Michael Wages, Kelsie Shead, Tanner Huckaby & fiance` Jamie Welch, and Tate Huckaby.  Also surviving are his sisters, Dianne Shead Peek and Vicky Shead, as well as other extended family members.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Shead will be cremated.  

The family is hosting a A Celebration of Life for Kenneth Shead on Saturday, February 14,  2026, at Happy Valley Baptist Church Gym between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM

Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the cremation needs of the Shead family.
