Omie Lee Smith Parker, age 83 of Carrollton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Born in Gainesville, Georgia, on June 13, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Monroe Smith and the late Ruth Lee Bell Millord Smith. In addition to her parents, Omie is preceded in death by a son, Timmy Tanner, and her brother, Monroe Smith, Jr.

A hard working woman, Omie spent many years weaving yarn at Maryann Industries in Villa Rica. She enjoyed sewing and taking care of children. There was always a grandchild or great-grandchild at Omie’s house.

Her survivors include her children and their spouses, Tina & Richie Gee of Gainesville, Tracy Camp of Columbiana, Alabama, Julie & Jeff Addison of Tallapoosa, Anthony Tanner and Johnny Tanner, both of Gainesville, Hayden Tanner and Devin Tanner, both of Carrollton; her precious grandchildren: Richie, Tasha, Jessie, Melissa, Katie, Leslie, C.J., Eric, Derrick, Chelsea, Drew, Angel, and Tyler; and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters and brothers-in-law: Bonnell & John Gowan and Iris & Melvin Young, all of Gainesville; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Tanner of Temple; and other extended family members.

Funeral services for Omie Parker will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeffery Addison officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the Parker family.

Mrs. Eunice McCormick Thompson

Mrs. Eunice McCormick Thompson was a woman whose life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and devotion to family. She passed away January 5, 2026 surrounded by that love she so freely gave throughout her life.

Eunice was born July 10, 1931 in Cleburne County, Alabama to the late Walter JD McCormick and Mattie Norrell McCormick. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Olis Warren Thompson; son, James W. Thompson; daughter in law, Judy P. Thompson; and brothers and sisters in law, Leon and Sarah McCormick and Earl and Catherine McCormick.

Family meant everything to Eunice. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved, always making sure everyone felt welcome, nourished, and cherished. Her love was not just spoken, it was shown in all she did.

She had a special gift for quilting, each stitch sewn by hand with love. Her cooking brought family together, filling the home with warmth. She would be the first to send a 7-up cake to a neighbor in need of feeling loved and noticed.

A woman whose love and acts of kindness were guided by her unwavering faith. She lived her beliefs daily, offering grace, compassion, and encouragement to all who knew her.

Eunice is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Anthony and Valerie Thompson, Michael and Darlene Thompson, and Gary Thompson, all of Muscadine, AL; grandchildren and their spouses, Cassie and Nick Addison, Julie and Shane Mann, Jason and Jennifer Thompson, Jennifer and Jason Taylor, Bree and Ryan Puckett, and Haley and Seth Statham; twelve great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; and daughter in law, Vickie Thompson, of Tallapoosa, GA.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 3:00PM EST at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Leggett and Rev. Wayne Pike officiating. Music will be provided by Valarie Davis and Steven Bentley. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Jason Thompson, Jason Taylor, Ryan Puckett, Seth Statham, Nick Addison, and Hunter Morgan. Shane Mann will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Interment will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:30 to 2:30PM EST.
