REPORT: Alabama woman found with meth at Love’s Truck Stop

An Alabama woman faced several charges after a K-9 alerted to her car for potential drug contraband while police were checking on her at the Love’s Truck Stop in Waco, according to the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Jamie Ellis Shell, 47, of a Heflin, Alabama address, was taken into custody after police located methamphetamine in her center console during a Tuesday night encounter with police at the truck stop.

Per the report provided by the HCSO, a deputy initially saw Shell inside of her car who was “acting suspiciously” at the time. He went over to check on her, and Shell was reported by the deputy to potentially be under the influence, with glassy eyes, constricted pupils and “speaking fast and erratic.” Shell explained she had gotten off of a third shift and been sleeping all day.

“During the interaction, Shell was asked if there were drugs in the vehicle, she began stuttering and saying she was okay,” the HSCO release on the incident noted.

Bremen Police had a K-9 unit in the area and K-9 Som got a chance to sniff the car. Shell claimed someone recently borrowed her car and “if there is something there, it might be in the center console.”

Police ultimately located the baggy and took Shell into custody. She was also found with a firearm based on charges she faces, but no information was immediately available about the weapon located during the search of her vehicle or Shell’s arrest.

Once Shell was turned over to jail staff for booking by early Wednesday morning, more drugs were found while she was searched at the Haralson County Detention Center.

She was found to have additional methamphetamine and hydrocodone pills on her person.

Shell was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a Schedule II drug, drugs not in original container, and crossing the guard line with contraband.

She remained behind bars with an $8,000 bond set on the felony and misdemeanor charges.
