Sergeant John Michael Johnson, age 54, of Bremen, Georgia, passed away on May 1, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1971, in Marietta, Georgia, the proud son of the late James Martin Johnson and Karen Kirkman.
John dedicated his life to serving others through a distinguished and faithful career in law enforcement. He began his career in 1998 with the Bowdon Police Department. He later served the citizens of Haralson County for 18 years with the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, where he started as a patrol officer and worked his way up through the ranks to investigator. For the past 10 years, John served as a drug task force agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, where his work made a lasting impact on the safety and well-being of countless individuals and communities.
In addition to his service in law enforcement, John was a man of strong faith. He was a member of Salt Fellowship and was deeply involved in ministry work with jail inmates, where he shared his heart for others and his desire to see lives changed.
Above all else, John was a devoted family man. He loved his wife, his son, and his girls with his whole heart. His family was his greatest pride and his most cherished blessing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christy Lynn Johnson; his children, Joshua Johnson, Megan Johnson, Mattie Johnson (Luke Elliott), and Claire Johnson; and his mother, Karen Kirkman Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Martin Johnson and grandmother, Lillian S. Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Bremen with Pastor Tanner Locke and Brother Donnie Mapp officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Brandon Loyd, Zac Zazverskey, Kent Johnson, Steven Sweatt, Brian Rutherford, and William Chappell will be serving as pallbearers.
John will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his service to his community, and the strong faith that guided his life.
