William Robert Lyons

William Robert Lyons, age 81 of Carrollton, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026.  Born on May 15, 1944, in Dover, Tennessee, to the late Robert Grady Lyons and the late Ruby Ethelene Causey Lyons.  

A true American patriot, William served honorably in the United States Army from 1962 to 1969.  He completed tours in Korea, Germany, and in Vietnam from 1966-1967.  

Upon returning to the states, he continued his service to his fellow man by becoming a police officer.  He was also a skilled woodworker and enjoyed working with his hands.  

Being in nature and spending time fishing were two of his favorite pastimes. In his later years, William became a published author telling his stories in “Tales of Small Adventure.”  A man of many talents, he will be missed by all who knew and loved  him.

Left to cherish his memories are his brother, Terry Lyons of Tallapoosa; his sons, Michael Lyons and Robert Lyons, both of Mancelona, Michigan; his grandchildren, Adriane Lyons of Carrollton, Jordan Lyons, Jacob Lyons, Anthony Armor, 
Billy Lyons, and Teddy Lyons, all of Michigan; his great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Caleb, and Robert; a number of nieces and nephews, as well a his special caregiver, German Mendoza.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Lyons will be cremated.  His family is planning a celebration to honor his life at a later date.

Manor Elisha Hurston

Manor Elisha Hurston, age 72 of Bremen, passed away on March 1, 2026, in Carrollton, Georgia, after a brief illness. Born on August 19, 1953, he was the son of the late Hugh Lee Hurston and the late Mamie Brown Hurston.  In addition to his parents, Elisha is preceded in death by his sister, Imogene Hurston, and his brothers Larry Hurston, J.W. Hurston, and Sterling Hurston. 

Elisha was a proud 1971 graduate of Bremen High School, where he not only excelled academically but also showcased his talents as a great athlete. He furthered his education at West Georgia College on a football scholarship, where his passion for sports flourished.

Elisha’s dedication to health and fitness remained a cornerstone of his life. A true health fanatic, he enjoyed running, exercising regularly, and adhering to a healthy diet. He also enjoyed playing his guitar.

Elisha served honorably in the United States Army from 1976 to 1979, during which time he earned the M-16 Rifle Marksman Badge.  

He spent many years working at King Packaging and finished his work career with Bremen City Schools in the maintenance department.  Elisha will be dearly missed by loving family.

Elisha is survived by his loving family, including his sisters Jessie Lee Weaver of Buchanan and Betty & Calvin Smith of Bremen, his brother Edward and Nancy Hurston of Bremen, and his beloved nieces and nephews: Melanie Robinson, Nicole West, Matthew Hurston, and Ricky Weaver. Each of them held a special place in his heart and will carry forward his legacy of love and support.

A  memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Fellowship Church Cemetery in Buchanan, Georgia, starting at 2:00 PM with Brother Marion Hurston officiating. Friends, family, and all who knew Elisha are invited to join in celebrating his life and the loving spirit he brought to this world.
