Deloris Yates Michael

Deloris Yates Michael, age 88 of Bremen, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on Thursday, May 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 21, 1937, she was the only daughter of the late Comer B. Yates and the late Gladys Harrod Yates. In addition to her parents, Deloris is preceded in death by her husbands, William Donald Heath, Sr. and Roy Jacob Michael; and her brother, Clinton Harrod Yates.

Growing up in rural Carroll County, Deloris developed an exceptional work ethic and a true love of family. She was a 1959 graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Business Education. She taught school for a few years and later started a real estate company with her husband to which they both devoted themselves.

Once her family began, she devoted herself to motherhood and taught her children so much about life and devotion to family. Her family was strong under her loving example and continues to be very close. Deloris loved to travel; seeing all fifty states was her goal that she accomplished, and she assured that her children did the same. Traveling with her family included camping, fishing, and seeing all the historical sites.

When her grandchildren were born, their Grandmother made them her priority. She made sure that the traveling continued and that lifetime memories were made for them. She enjoyed working with flowers, and she was an excellent cook. Her faith and her family kept Deloris going even when days were hard, and she was a great example to her children of how to live in His will. She will be deeply missed, but all know that she is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses: Bill & Susan Heath of Bremen, Sandra Heath Taylor of LaGrange, and Carol & Tim Files of Bremen, and her precious grandchildren: William Donald (Amanda) Heath, III, Sandy (Stephen) Walker, William Heath Taylor, Chris (Brooke) Wood, Lauren (Tyler) Evans, Zach (Abbie) Files, and Meredith Files. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren: Will Heath, Belle Heath, Becca Heath, Maddie Wood, Abby Wood, Kennedy Evans, Theo Evans, Josiah Walker, Isaac Walker, Mason Kramer, and Kaydence Kramer.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

The funeral service for Deloris Michael will be conducted on Saturday, May 17tth, at 11:00 AM at Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Brother Andy Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Chris Wood, William Heath, Heath Taylor, Tyler Evans, Zach Files, and Stephen Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be those who cared for Deloris during her illness. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for their kind and compassionate care.

Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the Heath-Michael family.
