Mrs. Dorothy Earline Rutledge

Mrs. Dorothy Earline Rutledge, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

She was born August 14, 1931 in Paulding County, daughter of the late Rufus and Ludie Shepard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Bob Rutledge; sisters, Myrtle Brooks, Pauline Hollis, Maebell Turner, Annie Shepard, and Infant Bertie Shepard; and brothers, Clarence Shepard, Lonnie Shepard, Edwin Shepard, Hugh Shepard, and O.D. Shepard.

Mrs. Dorothy was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and helped with Children’s Sunday School. She was a member of the Bremen Senior Center where she was involved with all play performances. She always had a part in each and every play and once played Cinderella.

She was a member of Hightower Funeral Home Circle of Friends and always enjoyed her time with friends at the monthly meetings, lunches and especially the trips as she always loved traveling. Mrs. Dorothy enjoyed sports also, playing basketball in high school and loved watching the Braves play.

She has lived in Bremen since 1953 and worked and retired from Sewell Manufacturing Company as Quality Director after forty-seven years of service. In her down time, she always enjoyed reading.

Left to treasure her memory are her two great nieces, Joyce Taff and Ann McCain; niece Alice Harrison; nephews, Bobby Hollis, Cecil Turner and Lance Hollis; and many more great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Services will be held Friday, May 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Barry Taylor and Brother David Finley officiating with Phil Brown delivering the eulogy and reading a poem. Music will be  provided by Ashton Purser.  Byron Taff, Chad Taff, John Scott, Phil Brown, Lance Hollis and Chandler Scott will serve as Pallbearers with Bobby Hollis and Cecil Turner serving as Honorary Pallbearers.

Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.
