Per the posting, the June 10 shooting took place around 8:45 p.m. when deputies were rushed to a Westbrook Road address in Bremen after a report came in of shots fired.
They found Deon McFarling, 36, in the front yard of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite his injuries, he was able to tell police that he was shot by David James Roper, 35, who fled the scene.
Deputies got a warrant for aggravated assault, along with a search warrant for Roper’s residence at 193 Westbrook Road.

The Sheriff’s Office posting passed along their thanks to the Georgia State Patrol SWAT unit, Haralson Paulding Drug Task Force, Bremen Police Department, Haralson County Fire Department, and Carrollton Fire Department Hazmat team.
“Our job is to keep the citizens of our county safe and tonight we did just that by containing the scene and taking the offender into custody,” Sheriff Stacy Williams said in the posting. “I appreciate all of the support from the citizens these last few months, and I hope we will continue to work together in making Haralson County safer for everyone.”
