Efforts to continue to curb drug addiction in Haralson County were the focal point of a conversation being recorded by documentary filmmakers who stopped into west Georgia to report on the story of Lance Dyer.
The HCSO Facebook page included this recent post about the filming and Dyer’s story in a series that focuses on how individuals are making an impact in the fight to curb drug addiction.
Here’s the full post from Friday:
Recently, a film crew representing Drug Free World Foundation came to the Sheriff Office to record for a future Voices for Humanity series in partnership with National Geographic. The crew was filming a documentary on Lance Dyer, who after the loss of his son, worked to get drug drop off boxes for local agencies.
The series focuses on the work individuals across the county are doing to impact illegal drug usage.
During the filming, Sheriff Stacy Williams met with Lance, and they opened the drug box that we have in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office. Included in the discarded drugs were fentanyl patches and other prescription drugs that could have been resold and used illegally.
The drug box located in the lobby at the Sheriff’s Office is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you have unused prescriptions, medication from deceased family members or if you come into possession of medication that is not yours, feel free to drop it off in the red colored pill drop box.
Keeping this medication around can be an invite to have it stolen and/or misused.
No questions will be asked and any medication that is placed there is safely destroyed.
