HCSO: Weekend arrest nets drugs, gun off Waco woman in wreck

A Waco woman was booked into custody after police found a firearm and drugs after her car ended up in a ditch on Murphy Campus Boulevard, according to a social media posting from the agency.

Kasandra Nell Mohammed, 38, of a Waco address, faces several charges following the Saturday night wreck near I-20 and the West Georgia Technical College campus.

Per the posting, Mohammed was behind the wheel of a silver Dodge Neon that was in the ditch when Deputy Matt Nichols found her there in the minutes before 11:30 p.m. on September 14.

Nichols and another deputy decided to run Mohammed through field sobriety tests and found them to be inconclusive, but she gave consent for a search of her car that turned up a purple and black SCCY 9mm pistol in a compartment in the driver’s door and “several small bags” of suspected methamphetamine in a red Folger’s coffee can in a cupholder. The can also contained Psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana.

Mohammed was charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, VGCSA Possession of Methamphetamine, VGCSA Possession of Schedule I, VGCSA Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce, and Possession of Drug Related Objects.

She remained in custody as of this posting with an $18,198 bond set on the felony and misdemeanor charges.

Here’s the original post from the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page:

On September 14, 2024 at 11:24 PM, Deputy Matt Nichols was dispatched to Murphy Campus BLVD in reference to a vehicle on the side of the road. On arrival, Deputy Nichols observed a silver Dodge Neon in a ditch with a female in the driver’s seat. During the investigation of the wreck, Deputy Nichols and his back up, Deputy Phagan, did conduct field sobriety tests and the results were inconclusive. The driver of the vehicle gave consent to search the vehicle and during that search, a purple and black SCCY 9mm pistol was located in the driver’s door, and a red Folger’s coffee can with a black lid was sitting in a cup holder beside the driver’s seat. Once the can was opened, it was found to contain several small bags containing a clear crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamine, a small bag containing suspected Psilocybin (shrooms), and several small bags containing marijuana.
