New and incumbent officials in Haralson County are able to start on their work after the holiday season ends following a swearing in ceremony was held just ahead of the Christmas break at the courthouse.
Officials brought along family, friends and supporters on Monday evening to the Haralson County Courthouse to take their oaths of office.
Tallapoosa Circuit Superior Court Judge Andrew Roper provided opening remarks, asking local officials if they “knew what they got themselves into” by becoming elected officials, and wishing them the best of luck as they take on or continue in roles in office for the next four years.

Among those who are taking on new responsibilities for the Tallapoosa Circuit Superior Court was Jaeson Smith, the new District Attorney, who represents both Haralson and Polk Counties.
Additionally, local officials include Probate Court J. Edward Hulsey Jr., who started his seventh term in office with his swearing in conducted by Judge Roper.
He then took on the role of conducting the oaths for the rest of the officials in Haralson. That included Coroner Patty Hutcheson, Magistrate Court Judge Jason Blackmon, Haralson County Board Chair Brian Walker, District 1 Commissioner David Tarpley, District 3 Commissioner Eddie Ivey, Sheriff Stacy Williams, Superior Court Clerk Amy Muse, Tax Commissioner Natasha Pope and Surveyor Gregory Dewberry.
School board members Brad Davis and Brenda Agan were not at the swearing in on Monday.
